To fast-track the process of recruitment to five government departments, the Cabinet today approved amendments to the relevant service rules. The departments are Home Affairs and Justice; Jails; Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development; School Education; and Rural Development and Panchayats.
The move will accelerate the government’s State Employment Plan 2020-22, to fill vacant posts in these departments. According to a spokesperson for the CM’s Office, the Cabinet agreed to amend the forensic science laboratory rules, which would govern the recruitment and the conditions of service of the staff. The laboratory earlier had 48 sanctioned technical posts, which have now been increased to 189.
The Cabinet also approved the prosecution and litigation service rules, thereby enhancing the posts of District Attorney to 42, Deputy District Attorney to 184 and Assistant District Attorney to 399.
Punjabi in Class 10 has been made compulsory in direct recruitment rules of warders, matrons and armors and physical efficiency test in recruitment of warders, matrons and assistant superintendent in the jails department. — TNS
Direct hiring of docs
The government has decided to convert 80 vacant promotion quota posts of superspecialty doctors in government medical colleges of Patiala and Amritsar to direct recruitment quota. The Cabinet also approved filling up of these posts through the Dr KK Talwar Committee by taking out all these posts from the purview of the PPSC.
