Singer Sidhu Moosewala’s friends Gurvinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh, who were with him when he was shot on May 29 at Mansa, today visited the Civil Hospital here to identify the bodies of the singer’s alleged killers.

DGP: Efforts on to extradite Goldy Brar

  • DGP Gaurav Yadav said efforts were on to extradite Canada-based Goldy Brar, who had claimed the responsibility for killing the singer
  • Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, is a native of Muktsar. He had gone to Canada on a student visa in 2017
  • A red corner notice had been issued by Interpol against him, DGP Yadav said

The singer’s father, Balkour Singh, also reached the hospital where the bodies of Jagroop Singh Rupa and Manpreet Singh, alias Mannu Kussa had been kept. The two were gunned down during an encounter with the state police yesterday. They had taken shelter in an abandoned building located on the outskirts of Hoshiarnagar village. It is believed that it was Moga-based Kussa who had fired first at Moosewala with an AK-47 rifle. They were in a car that followed the singer’s Thar at Jawahar Ke village in Mansa.

Gurvinder had sustained a bullet injury on his right shoulder, while Gurpreet Singh had suffered two bullet injuries on his right arm and leg. At the Civil Hospital, Gurvinder, Gurpreet along with Balkour were taken inside to identify the bodies.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) MS Bhullar said Gurvinder and Gurpreet identified Rupa and Kussa as the shooters who killed Moosewala.

Later, Balkour Singh said, “The police did their work and I appreciate it. It is just the beginning of a long fight.” He said he would be satisfied only when the main conspirator (referring to Canada-based Goldy Brar) and others involved in killing of his son were nabbed and punished.

Officials said family members of the alleged gangsters and Moosewala were called to complete the documentation formalities. Rupa’s father Baljinder Singh and other relatives also reached the hospital. Baljinder said he had disowned his son in 2018. Family members of Kussa too turned up to claim his body.
