The intermittent spell of wet weather experienced in the state today due to a western disturbance over northwest India is likely to continue tomorrow. The weatherman has also predicted a fresh western disturbance that will cause light rainfall and snowfall over the region on January 1 and 2.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to continue over the western Himalayan region tomorrow, stated a bulletin released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today. Dense fog and cold wave conditions have also been forecast till December 31.

Over the past 24 hours, light rainfall with thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Punjab with areas around Nangal, Barnala, Moga, Faridkot, Jalandhar and Patiala receiving up to 4 mm rainfall. Rain in the state this month has been 52% deficient so far.
