Muktsar district has topped the state in practising direct seeding of rice (DSR) method.

As of now, the paddy is sown on 65,000 acres through the technique in the district.

Muktsar Chief Agriculture Officer Gurnam Singh said the state government had fixed the target of Muktsar to bring 45,000 acres under the DSR method.

He said the state government had announced to give Rs 1,500 per acre incentive to the farmers, who will sow paddy using the technique.
