The police here claimed to have solved the case of the murder of a 54-year-old man of Baja Mrar village who was killed while going to Chandigarh with his son near Mrar Kalan village. The police have arrested the deceased’s son and claimed that he had committed the murder.

The SSP said, “During the investigation, we found the suspect had lost Rs 25 lakh in online gambling, but he kept it a secret from his father. However, he had told his father the money was invested in a business in Chandigarh, which got stuck there. When his father planned to go to Chandigarh, Pyarjeet feared his father would find out about the loss, so he killed him. The suspect has been arrested and the knife used to commit the crime has also been recovered.”

"The suspect damaged his car to make a story that some masked men attacked their car and ran away with their phones and the car key,” he added.
