While Punjab Shahi Imam Maulana Mohammad Usman Ludhianvi’s meeting with RSS leaders has not gone down well with some Islamic radicals, a majority of the state’s Muslim community does not see anything objectionable in it. RSS leaders had visited the Shahi Imam to invite him for Ram Temple consecration on January 22.
Backing Ludhianvi, a large number of Muslims of Malerkotla and surrounding localities have called upon the Muslims of Punjab to ignore calls given on social media for the boycott of the Shahi Imam.
Office-bearers of Muslim organisation led by Abdur Rasheed Faran appreciated that Shahi Imam raised the esteem of Islam among the general populace through his courtesy to emissaries of a non-Muslim organisation, for Islam does not teach hatred or hostility towards guests.
Ludhianvi had termed the social media posts as ‘vindictive action by a few’.
