Muslims protest against massacre
On a call given by Shahi Imam Maulana Usman Ludhianvi, the Muslim community held protests against “terrorism” after offering “namaz” at various mosques across the state on Friday.
Ludhianvi said the massacre of innocent tourists at Pahalgam had sent shockwaves across the country and the barbaric act must be condemned by one and all. He said Islam did not teach anyone to kill innocent people. He said the government must amend the law and those behind the attack should be publically hanged.
Muslim clerics in Jalandhar, Malerkotla, Nawanshehr, Barnala etc. also organised protest against the Pahalgam massacre. While some Muslims wore black badges during namaz, others burnt effigies of “terrorism”. Those sitting in Pakistan should know that their efforts to divide people in the name of religion would not bear fruit, he said.
On the demolition of terrorists’ houses in Kashmir, he said it was a small punishment. People want the strictest punishment for the terrorists who killed innocent persons, he said.
Talking to The Tribune, Mohamman Nizam from Nawanshehr said it was time to show that Muslims and Hindus stood united in this hour of crisis. Qari Furqan from Mandi Ahmedgarh and Mazhar Alam from Jalandhar also expressed similar views.
