Environmentalist and AAP Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal on Friday said his model of conserving water was a success while alternate plans adopted by others couldn’t achieve desired results.
His remark has come following a controversy stirred by a statement of Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, who had called the model a “complete failure” and accused the government of propagating it only to promote its leader.
The state Assembly had adopted a censure motion against Bajwa for his remarks on Thursday.
Breaking his silence, Seechewal said his water conservation model has not failed anywhere, rather the “Thapar model” created by engineers has failed.
Speaking to the media, he claimed that since 1999, the model implemented in his native village Seechewal had been running successfully to this day.
Seechewal said this model was successfully running in nearly 250 villages across Punjab, and he fully guarantees its success.
