Nagar kirtan to mark Prakash Purb of Guru Teg Bahadur

A “nagar kirtan” was taken out from Akal Takht Sahib to Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal to mark the 400th Prakash Purb (birth centenary) of Guru Teg Bahadur.

Besides SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, the attendees included head priest of Golden Temple Giani Jagtar Singh, officiating jathedar, Akal Takht, Giani Harpreet Singh, and jathedar,

Takht Kesgarh Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh.

Following prayers, head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh performed the service of Chaur Sahib of Guru Granth Sahib. The “gatka” and band parties also displayed their best during the occasion.

The participation of the sangat was low due to Covid-19 restrictions. Meanwhile, a “kavi darbar” was held where the life history of Guru Teg Bahadur was introduced to the sangat through poems. The hazuri ragi groups of the Golden Temple performed Gurbani kirtan at Gurdwara Sahib. The ongoing events of the SGPC were telecast live through various channels.
