NCC cadets hold extempore on drug abuse awareness
NCC cadets from Lyallpur Khalsa College hosted an extempore competition addressing the growing issue of drug abuse in Punjab. The event was attended by Col Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer of the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion, who praised the initiative and spoke about the severe impact of addiction on the youth in the region.
Principal Dr Jaspal Singh emphasised the importance of raising awareness and providing support to those battling addiction. During the competition, cadets passionately discussed the social and economic effects of drug abuse and outlined possible solutions such as education, awareness, and government regulation.
Samridhi Kaushal, Bhawani Sharma, and Sharanpreet Johal secured the top three positions, while Jatin, Jaspreet Singh, Harshdeep Singh, Chetna, Jasmine, Mudit Thakur, Gursharan Singh, and Ruby also participated.
Col Joshi expressed concern over the growing drug addiction problem and called for collective action from schools, colleges, and communities to create a drug-free future.
Dr Karanbir Singh, NCC Incharge, highlighted the cadets’ commitment to social responsibility, while Prof Satpal Singh, NSS Programme Officer, stressed the importance of community efforts in tackling the crisis. Battalion officials, including Sub Rajinder Singh, Naib Sub Iqbal Singh, and Hav Hardeep Singh, were also present at the event.
