The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and IB reportedly conducted a raid at the residence of former Akal Takht Jathedar Jasbir Singh Rode here on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Though no official confirmation has been made, there are reports that the teams reached the residence of Rode at Hardial Nagar around midnight.
Around 20 sleuths of the investigating agencies who reached his place are learnt to have recovered IED and arrested Rode’s son Gurmukh Singh.
Though Rode, who has been recovering after a recent surgery, was present, the agency officials took action against his son.
There are reports that the NIA is trying to link the recent recovery of a tiffin bomb in Amritsar with Rode’s brother Lakhbir Singh, who is settled in Pakistan and heads the International Sikh Youth Federation from there.
There are unconfirmed reports that Lakhbir was supplying arms and ammunition from Pakistan and his nephew Gurmukh Singh was allegedly handling them from here.
Following the reports of the raid, mediapersons gathered outside the residence of Rode, who came out to clarify to the media that though the teams had taken away his son, no recovery of IED was made from his house. He alleged that his son was being framed.
