NIA raids close aides, relatives of Amritpal Singh
National Investigating Team from Delhi raided the residences of close aides and relatives of MP Amritpal Singh, who is lodged in Dibrugarh Jail under National Security Act.
According to information, first raid was conducted at his uncle Pargat Singh Sandhu's house and workshop located on Rayya-Feruman Road, besides at his brother-in-law’s Amanjot Singh's house in Butala village (Amritsar). Amanjot is currently residing in Canada.
The NIA also raided the residences of his relatives at Mehta (Amritsar), Sri Hargobindpur (Gurdaspur) and Gurnam Nagar in Amritsar.
The NIA allegedly detained Amarjit Kaur, wife of Pargat Singh, for questioning at Beas police station.
Charanjit Singh Bhinder, spokesman and supporter of Amritpal, termed the raids as pressure tactics and for harassing the supporters of the MP.
He said NIA raided the premises at around 5 am. He alleged that state and central agencies were in panic after the conference organised by them at Baba Bakala during traditional Rakhar Punia event on August 19.
