Batala, May 16
Tension prevailed in the city following the killing of a Nihang after two warring groups clashed at a crowded locality this afternoon.
DSP (City) Parvinder Kaur said two groups of Nihangs clashed near Jassa Singh hall. “However, police rushed to the scene and brought things under control. We have registered an FIR against two suspects, Sahib Singh and Major Singh. Teams have been dispatched to suspected hideouts to nab them,” said the DSP.
A police officer said a few days ago, Tarna Dal followers Baba Narinder Singh and Baba Dheer Singh Khalsa had warned another group of Nihangs against bringing disrepute to gurdwaras by consuming bhang. However, the group felt offended and hatched a plan to attack the two. — TNS
