Activists of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), who had been staging a dharna at the railway overbridge on the Abohar-Hanumangarh state highway for the past one week, today blocked traffic on the Abohar-Sriganganagar highway for four hours. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded due to the stir.

The farmers said none of the senior government officials had so far tried to ensure canal water supply for irrigation in the villages located at the tail-end of the canal system.
