The Kapurthala police are investigating the reports of the missing Kapurthala woman’s reported past relationship with a Pakistan-based man.
Meanwhile, Amanipur, the village where Sarbjit Kaur spent the past many years of her life, is in shock over the news reports claiming that she had converted to Islam in Pakistan. The Kapurthala police said after she went missing, none of her family members had filed a missing person’s report, nor did the family approach the police to look for her.
The police were carrying out a detailed investigation into her antecedents and calls details. Sources today said Sarbjit had also visited Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan about a year ago and previously and befriended Pakistan man named Nasir on Facebook.
Sources said she might have tried to meet him during her past trip to Kartarpur. Kapurthala police said though there was no conformation so far on the issue, the reports were being verified.
While Sarbjit had three cases against her in the past, her sons faced nine.
DSP Sultanpur Lodhi, Dheerendra Verma said, “We received reports of her alleged conversion only through news media. The family has had a criminal history. All her past activities are under investigation and her CDR is also under probe. She had not been convicted in any of the former three cases aginst her. We are also investigating the reports regarding her former trip to Pakistan and whether she shared friendship with the Pakistan man earlier.”
