Sangrur, August 7

Teachers under the banner of the Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF), protested in Sangrur over the failure of the government to fulfil their long-pending demands.

They alleged that the AAP government was no different from previous regimes.

Digvijaypal Sharma, chief, DTF, said, “Like previous governments, the AAP government is working to privatise government sector. Ahead of the 2022 Assembly poll, AAP leaders made big promises, which have not been fulfilled so far.”

They said the government had failed to bring any visible change in education sector.

They demanded regularisation of contractual teachers, shifting of computer teachers under the Education Department and restart of old-pension scheme.

Later, protesters took out a march from the DC office to Barnala Chowk. They ended their protest after the authorities got their meeting fixed with senior officials of the Education Department in Chandigarh on August 22.
