No warning issued to discoms: Ministry

Following reports that power distribution companies (discoms) in six states have been directed to “either adopt privatisation or reduce their losses”, the Power Ministry has said that it has not issued any warning to discoms.

The Centre is committed to supporting state governments and discoms in their endeavours to provide reliable power supply to all consumers, the ministry said.

It was “always working with all stakeholders” including the state governments and regulatory commissions to devise pathways that secure sustainable power delivery, protect consumer interests, promote employment opportunities and ensure fiscal prudence, the ministry claimed.
