Ropar, January 8
Open to all options to keep the Congress and SAD out of power in future, Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) president Simarjit Singh Bains said he was not averse to joining hands with rebel Akali leaders Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Parminder Singh Dhindsa and other like-minded people at a suitable time.
He had come to Ropar to attend the ‘Saadi panchayat, saadi zameen’ campaign against the state government’s decision to hand over panchayat land for industrial development. Interacting with media, he said the Dhindsa duo had taken an appreciable step in the direction of freeing SAD from the monopoly of a family. Claiming that “more honest persons” could follow them in coming days, he said it was due to the efforts of SAD that gurdwaras were freed from clutches of mahants, and the SGPC was formed. — TNS
