The CEO said the gazette notification for the byelections was scheduled to be issued on October 18 following which the nomination process would start. The last date for filing of nominations is October 25. The scrutiny of papers will be done on October 28. The candidates can withdraw their nominations till October 30. The polling is scheduled to take place on November 13 (from 7 am to 6 pm). The counting of votes will be held on November 23.

He said the poll code had come into force in the districts concerned on October 15, the date of announcement of byelections, and would remain in force till November 25 when the election process would be completed.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
