Amid reports of delay in registration of plots without no-objection certificate (NOC), the Department of Housing today extended the date for the process till August 31 this year. Earlier, the state government had allowed registration of plots without the NOC from December 1 last year till today.
Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said under the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024, the requirement of NOC for registration of land deeds was done away with for a period of three months starting December 1.
He said as per the amendment, any person, who had entered into a power of attorney or agreement to sell on stamp paper till July 31 last year, will not require any NOC for the registration of land measuring up to 500 square yards in an unauthorised colony. The aim was to ensure stringent control over illegal colonies, besides giving relief to small plot holders.
Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Anurag Verma had recently warned the Deputy Commissioners of stern action following reports of graft and delay in the registration of plots without NOC despite the state government notification issued in November last year.
