Amid reports of delay in registration of plots without no objection certificates, the housing department on Friday extended the window for getting the registries done by another six months.

The earlier three-month window for the waiver ended on Friday.

Housing Secretary Rahul Tewari said the department had been getting representations to extend the deadline and it had been decided in public interest.

The waiver has been given under the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024.

“Earlier, the three-month window had been allowed from December 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025. It is applicable to properties located in the areas governed by the Urban Housing and Local Bodies Departments,” said department officials.

ACS (Revenue) Anurag Verma had recently warned deputy commissioners of stern action over reports of graft or delay in registration of plots without no objection certificates despite the government notification issued in November.
