NSUI ex-chief Subhash Chaudhary accuses Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal of violation of oath of secrecy
New Delhi, April 13
Former National Student Union of India (NSUI) president Subhash Chaudhary has asked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh to desist from meddling in religious affairs, and also made a case for criminal prosecution against him and AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding alleged violation of the oath of secrecy of the post of chief minister.
Raising concerns over Mann’s recent overtures to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) of the state government’s financial help to establish a proposed dedicated satellite channel to disseminate Gurbani, Chaudhary said that AAP was given mandate by people to improve their standard of life as well as the state’s economy.
“Mann is now trying to divert attention from the promises,” he added, while criticising the Punjab government for alleged deterioration of law and order.
Chaudhary appreciated the prompt intervention of Akal Takht chief Giani Harpreet Singh in asking Mann not to dabble in religious administration, but to concentrate on governance of the state.
He expressed concern at reports of Kejriwal convening meetings of Punjab officials in the absence of Mann.
“This has raised a constitutional issue with regard to the sanctity of oath of secrecy sworn by the Punjab chief minister.”
The apprehensions raised by Congress leaders during the election campaign that Kejriwal wanted to rule Punjab by proxy had come true, he said.
He urged Congress leaders in Punjab to raise the matter in the Assembly, and to launch a criminal prosecution against Mann and Kejriwal for alleged violation of oath of secrecy of the office of the chief minister.
AAP leaders, however, without confirming that Kejriwal had convened a meeting of Punjab officials, defended the AAP supremo in the matter.
