She said the diet, prepared by Markfed, would be made available to beneficiaries on their doorstep. She said the state government had decided to introduce the new recipe to raise the nutritional value of food provided to these groups through anganwari centres under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme. The minister said the new diet included gram flour, moong dal, soybean flour and double fortified salt. She also distributed dry ration packets to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Talking about the “Udaan” scheme launched by the department for needy women, she said beneficiaries were being covered through the state-level network of 27,314 anganwadi centres. — TNS
