Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, has welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

He stated that from the very beginning, he had held the belief that war should not break out between the two nations and had even offered Ardas (Sikh prayers) before Guru Sahib at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib yesterday.

He added that all national and international leaders, who played a vital role in achieving this ceasefire, deserved applause.

He stressed that the Sikh community had always stood firm against oppression and tyranny and had played a leading role in defending the nation. War, he said, was destructive to humanity and claimed innocent lives, so both sides should resolve their issues through dialogue.

He added that there had been a continuous demand from the people of Punjab to open the borders with Pakistan for trade, which would promote regional development and provide a market for local crops.
