In a major intelligence failure, a hardcore criminal having 24 cases, including drug peddling, registered against him has fled abroad.
Gurpreet Singh, alias Kishan Singh, of Shiekhupur Jandiala had come out on parole recently. He was lodged in the Goindwal jail for nearly six years in a drug case.
The incident came to light after the Jandiala police registered another FIR against him on Thursday.
As per information, Gurpreet got passport prepared on forged documents and showed himself a resident of Mira Road, Thane, Maharashtra.
The police have registered a case under Sections 318(4), 337, 336(3) and 340(2) of the BNS and Section 12 of the Indian Passports Act.
Earlier, several gangsters, including Lakhbir Singh, alias Landa Harike, Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, Manpreet Singh, alias Mann Ghanshampuria, and Jeevan Fauji had managed to flee the country. Now, they have become a major headache for security agencies.
They allegedly joined hands with Pakistan-based terror outfits indulging in cross-border drugs and arms smuggling, besides carrying out terror activities in Punjab.
