On run for 2 years, rape accused Gurdaspur pastor Jashan Gill surrenders in court
Pastor Jashan Gill, who has been accused of raping a 22-year-old woman, surrendered before a local court here on Wednesday, even as a police team had been dispatched to Jammu to arrest him.
Gill, a self-styled pastor, has been accused of raping his disciple in 2023 and was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by the court.

In an effort to apprehend him, the police arrested his brother, Prem Masih, and sister, Martha, to put pressure on the accused.
The victim’s father had met with senior officers on Tuesday, urging them to expedite the arrest.
SSP Aditya said, “It was only after we took his brother and sister into custody for sheltering him that the pastor decided to surrender. We had applied enough pressure for him to do so.”
Gill had been on the run ever since an FIR was filed against him in 2023.
The victim’s father had also alleged that the police were deliberately delaying the arrest, a claim that was strongly denied by police officers.
