The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered a case against an unidentified person after a goods train bogie derailed at Fazilka Railway Station on Wednesday evening.

According to official sources, an FIR has been lodged under Section 154 of the Railway Act, 1989, related to endangering public safety. The incident occurred when a truck allegedly collided with the bogie, causing it to derail. The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene, and the vehicle has been confiscated by authorities.

In contrast, labourers involved in loading the bogie with wheat bags claimed that the derailment occurred while they were working. They stated the bogie tipped over and fell onto an adjoining track, causing panic among workers. Four labourers were trapped but were later rescued by their colleagues.

The situation led to a standoff between railway officials and truck operators, lasted until around 10 p.m. before the RPF took action and filed the case.
