Online gambling racket busted in Fazilka, 8 nabbed

With the arrest of eight persons, the local police have busted an online gambling racket in Fazilka.

According to sources, officials raided a private hotel along the Ferozepur road, where some persons were found engaged in illegal online gambling on their mobile phones.

Fazilka Senior Superintendent of Police Varinder Singh Brar said the accused operated a covert online gambling network using mobile phones and fake bank accounts to ensure that there was no direct financial trail. He said the police had seized multiple phones and identified the bank accounts used for illegal transactions.

The alleged kingpin of the group, Sonu Dhuria, and others, including Rajesh Dhuria, Kuldeep Kumar, Ajay Sunda, Shiva Wadhwa, Rupesh Singh, Anil Kumar and Iqbal Tank were nabbed on Thursday night. They were booked under Section 13/3/367 of the Gambling Act and Section 112 of the BNS.
