'Only family will attend my last rites': Youth dies by suicide, leaves emotional note

A 25-year-old youth ended his life by consuming a poisonous substance in Panjkosi village, within the Abohar subdivision.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving the information and transported the youth's body to the Civil Hospital Abohar for a post-mortem examination.

The deceased has been identified as Sheesh Pal, a resident of Panjkosi.

The incident occurred while other family members were away at work. Sheesh Pal allegedly consumed poisonous substances at home and collapsed unconscious outside the main gate of the house. By the time people discovered him, he had died.

Sources indicate that the police recovered a two-page suicide note written in Punjabi from the scene. In the note, Sheesh Pal wrote that people had been taunting him about his gender and lifestyle. He clarified that he had done nothing wrong, yet people falsely accused him. He also requested that only family members attend his last rites.

The Khuian Sarwar police station brought the body to the mortuary of the government hospital in Abohar with assistance from the Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti. Police station in-charge Maninder Singh stated that the case is being investigated based on the statements of the family members.

According to Sanjeev Poonia, the husband of the village's female Sarpanch, Sheesh Pal had been under mental stress for some time.
