Former BJP Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna said one nation, one election Bill was a step towards developed India. However, the Opposition was creating hurdles in the country’s progress, he said.

“Aim of one nation, one election Bill is to conduct simultaneous elections across the country. At present, elections are being held throughout the year. As a result, development works get affected due to the model code of conduct,” he said, adding that the Opposition has always rejected the matters related to public welfare.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
