Ashwani Sharma, working president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state unit, on Sunday accused the AAP government, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of coming together purely for political gains and spreading propaganda against them.

Sharma said the tweet issued by the Centre had clearly stated that no Bill related to Chandigarh would be introduced in the winter session of Parliament. Therefore, the atmosphere of fear created by AAP and other parties was nothing but a political drama.

Sharma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had always been pro-Punjab and protected rights of Punjabis at every step.

He said AAP, Congress and the Akali Dal had no real concern for Punjab and just for the sake of coming to power in 2027, they were building a false narrative against the BJP.

Sharma added that the AAP government, which couldn’t fulfil its election promises, has failed to control gangsterism, illegal mining and provide compensation to the flood-hit people. To divert public attention, AAP was making baseless allegations against the BJP, he added.

Criticising the Congress and Akali Dal, Sharma said issues such as water, Chandigarh and Centre-State relations were the result of the decades-long mistakes committed by these parties.
