Nearly 3,000 buses of the state public sector undertakings — PRTC, Punbus and Punjab Roadways — will remain off road tomorrow, as the employees’ unions of the undertakings have gone on strike.Meanwhile, commuters are set to face a lot of inconvenience as the government has failed to make any alternative arrangement for them. After a failed dialogue with the state government over floating tenders for issuing bus permits under the kilometre scheme to private players, the unions today announced that the strike would continue till their demands were met.Harkesh Kumar, senior vice-president of the PRTC, Punbus and Punjab Roadways contract workers unions, said apart from scrapping the tenders under the kilometre scheme for private players, the unions had alleged that the Transport Minister Laljit Bhullar had failed to fulfil their demands. The government has called for another round of meeting with the union leader tomorrow to end the dialogue.
