Over 50 pledge to donate eyes in memory of journalist Rajinder Jedka
The Bhog ceremony of social activist and journalist Rajinder Jedka became an unexpected platform for promoting eye donation awareness, with over fifty people pledging to donate their eyes in his memory.
Hoshiar Singh Ranu, convener of the ceremony, shared that the event saw the participation of more than fifty individuals, including Tribune reporters from Malerkotla and Sangrur districts, who were led by Gurdeep Singh Lalli. The pledges came in response to a call made by Dr. Pavitar Syan, Chief Organiser of the Vigyanic Welfare Society Amargarh.
Dr. Syan urged attendees to honor Jedka’s legacy by pledging to donate their eyes after death. “As we felicitate Jedka posthumously for donating blood during his lifetime and eyes after death, we request you all to follow him and pledge your eyes,” he said.
The participants filled out pledge forms to donate their eyes through the Punarjot Eye Bank Society, marking a significant step towards spreading awareness about eye donation in the region.
