The Fatehgarh Chhanna village panchayat on Monday passed a resolution opposing the state government’s alleged move to take Rs 13 lakh from panchayat funds for flood-affected people.

The panchayat, along with leaders of the BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) and BKU (Qadian), submitted a memorandum to the district administration, demanding the funds be used only for local development and the purchase of panchayat land.

Sarpanch Rajwinder Kaur and farmer leaders accused some politicians of pressuring them to release the funds and threatening to replace the sarpanch.
