Following rains in the upper hills, Patiala Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav has appealed to the residents of the district to remain alert and adopt all necessary precautions in view of the rainfall forecast for the next two days. In the wake of swollen Ghaggar due to rain in the hills, the district has issued an alert to all villages around Ghaggar, urging the local residents to stay alert.

She specifically advised people to stay away from rivers, ponds and embankments and urged parents to ensure that children did not venture near waterlogged areas. Presiding over an online meeting with all Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Municipal Corporation officials, Yadav directed the authorities to maintain special vigilance in their respective areas.

She asked them to ensure timely drainage arrangements in low-lying regions where rainwater could accumulate. The DC said the advisory had been issued to safeguard public and to prevent any untoward incidents during the rainy season. She assured that the district administration is fully alert and working round the clock for the safety and convenience of residents.

Yadav further instructed the Health Department to regularly sensitise people about preventive measures against diseases that commonly occur during the monsoon season.
