PAU alumni and US-based expert share valuable insights
In a series of insightful interactions, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) students benefited from the experiences of four alumni currently studying at Kansas State University, USA, and a renowned scientist from Oregon State University, USA.
The first session saw four alumni of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAET) at PAU—Er Rahul, Er Raghav, Er Aashvi, and Er Simran—engage with nearly 200 B.Tech students.
The alumni shared their academic journeys and valuable insights on preparing for higher education in the United States. They discussed opportunities for scholarships, crafting Statements of Purpose (SOPs), and strategies for navigating the application process. Their guidance covered various career paths in agricultural engineering, both in India and abroad.
The session, conducted by Dr Ashwani Kumar Soni, Chairman of Academic Affairs, provided students with crucial information for pursuing studies overseas and exploring global opportunities.
In a separate event, Dr Navneet Kaur, an alumnus of PAU’s Department of Entomology and a Scientist at Oregon State University, USA, engaged with postgraduate students of the Entomology Department. Dr Kaur shared her expertise on managing major insect-pests in field crops in Oregon and motivated students to consider pursuing higher studies in foreign countries. Her session provided both academic and career guidance to the students.
The COAET Alumni Association honoured the alumni for their achievements, while the Entomology Club facilitated an enriching exchange of knowledge with Dr Kaur. These sessions served as an inspiration for PAU students, encouraging them to explore new academic and professional horizons globally.
