Rachhpal was nabbed by a police team near Puhla village on Monday, after he shot at ASI Malkiat Singh. A pistol and other ammunition were recovered from his possession. His interrogation led to unearthing of the narco-terror link.

SSP Dhruman H Nimble said after Rachhpal’s questioning, his associate Baljit Singh Sona of Algon Kala was arrested. A .12 bore rifle, 19 live cartridges, two mobile sets, a dongle and a backpack had been seized from Baljit’s residence. The district police also brought Tejinder Singh Teja on production warrant from the Patiala Jail. Teja was also involved in a number of drug deals, he added.

Rachhpal had gone to the border area to collect some information on Monday. He brought 10 consignments of heroin from the Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan and Punjab. — TNS
