Abohar, July 16

A team led by Dilbagh Singh, Joint Director, Agriculture Department, today visited Patti Sadiq village in Abohar to inspect cotton crop cultivated on 2.5 acres by Gurpreet Singh.

“The plants are soft and colour is fine. The attack of whitefly and pink bollworm is minimal. Farmers have yet not used pesticides on cotton crop,” officials said.

The team also visited Dangar Khera village and inspected the cotton crop of Ramesh Kumar. The experts said okra plants were planted near the field, due to which whitefly attack was reported.

The officials said 73 plots were observed by 20 pest survey teams in Fazilka district. Of these, eight were found to be hotspots of whitefly and three hotspots of pink bollworm.

The affected farmers were advised to use pesticides as per the recommendation of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
