Chandigarh, April 4

Terming the planned SAD protests theatrics by the Badals in their bid to revive party’s fortunes in Punjab, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said such tactics would not work as the Akalis had lost face in the wake of their fiasco over the farm laws, which had exposed their double standards.

Having lost the moral right to face people due to doublespeak on vital issues, including the ongoing farmers’ agitation, the SAD was now trying to get back into their good books ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, he said.

In a statement, the CM termed the Akali claims of “rising power tariff, higher taxes on fuel and law and order situation” as ridiculous, considering it was their party that had plunged the state into such a mess during their 10-year-rule, in collusion with the BJP.

The CM said the false propaganda that the SAD was trying to spread through such protests would not work as people had “neither forgotten, nor forgiven the Akalis-BJP rulers for the sufferings they were subjected for 10 years”.
