Abohar, July 18
The district administration and District Legal Services Authority launched the plantation campaign at the orphanage Matrichhaya Ashram in Alamgarh, near Abohar, today.
The Deputy Commissioner, Dr Senu Duggal, said, “We have set a target of planting 12 lakh saplings in Fazilka district this year.” She added that every nook and cranny of the district was being covered under the campaign.
She said planting saplings would not be enough, and like children, the growing plants need to be nurtured by watering them regularly and using fertilisers from time to time. She said it is important to take care of the plants so they grow bigger.
District and Sessions Judge Jatinder Kaur said, as per the guidelines of the National Legal Services Authority and the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, the plantation campaign would be conducted until September 30. She said judicial officers, paralegal volunteers, staff of judicial court complexes, and advocates of the bar association, among others from the district, would try to plant as many saplings as possible.
District Legal Services Authority Secretary Amanpreet Singh and District Child Protection Officer Ritu Bala, among other officials, were present.
