PM Modi to visit Punjab on September 9; to conduct aerial survey of flood-ravaged areas

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Punjab on September 9 to take stock of flood-ravaged areas of the state. The official schedule has been finalised and was shared with the Punjab Government on Sunday morning.

Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar also confirmed the PM’s schedule to The Tribune, which broke the news in its columns today.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply concerned about the flood situation in Punjab and is closely monitoring it. He is visiting Punjab on September 9 to personally assess the local conditions and understand the ground realities to provide maximum assistance to the people of Punjab,” Jakhar said.

The state BJP chief said earlier, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chouhan was sent to evaluate the situation.

“Two central government teams, which visited to assess the damage caused by the floods in Punjab, are set to submit their reports to the central government after their tour. The Government of India stands firmly with the people of Punjab,” Jakhar added.

The PM will come to Punjab from Kangra on September 9.

He will conduct an aerial survey of flood-hit zones and land in Pathankot where he is expected to hold a meeting with Punjab Government officials.
