Police crack highway robbery case in 24 hrs
The Kartarpur Police Station of Jalandhar Rural Police has solved a highway robbery case within 24 hours, recovering Rs 2 lakh in cash and seizing the vehicle used in the crime.
Two individuals, Karanjit Singh from Chhabalwadi (Amritsar) and Satnam Singh from Bachde (Tarn Taran), were arrested in connection with the robbery.
The incident occurred on January 30, 2025, at around 5:00 am, when Arman Sood, preparing to travel to Australia, was targeted near Vaishno Dhaba. Sood, who was carrying Rs 3 lakh in cash and his passport, was threatened and robbed by two men in an Alto car.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, praised the swift action of the police. Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Jasroop Kaur Bath and DSP Kartarpur Surinder Pal, special teams were formed to track the culprits.
The investigation also uncovered that the robbers had been monitoring their targets before executing the crime. The Alto car used in the robbery was seized, providing further leads in ongoing investigations.
The arrested suspects will be presented in court, and their police remand will be sought for further inquiry. Police believe the interrogation may lead to the recovery of the remaining cash and potentially link the suspects to other similar crimes in the area.
SSP Khakh emphasised the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward street crime, highlighting the successful operation as an example of the police’s commitment to public safety.
