Faridkot, October 2
Two days after busting fake SIM card racket, the Faridkot police on Saturday claimed to have recovered 1,528 SIM cards of BSNL (4G) which were allegedly activated on fake documents.
The police have also recovered 15 mobile phones, 330 SIM trays (a small holder for a phone’s SIM card), one swiping machine and a list of PAN card numbers.
While the police have started identifying the distributors of the SIMs cards on fake documents, the police believed the scam is spread across the state. A detailed investigation had already been started, claimed the police.
The police had arrested two of the gang members who belong to Dabwali town of Sirsa district in Haryana on Thursday.
The police believed many of these SIM cards, procured on the basis of fake IDs were sold to jail inmates here. With recovery of over 100 mobile phones from inmates in the jail here this year, the police are worried about the easy accessibility and use of mobile phones in Faridkot Jail.
