Police release 52 seized assets at camp in Malerkotla

The police organised a camp to hand over case property to authorised owners on ‘supurdagi’ in connection with 52 cases registered at various police stations in Malerkotla, Amargarh and Ahmedgarh subdivisions.

Owners of various items of case properties, who normally have to loiter from pillar to post, were jubilant to receive invitations to attend the camp and receive the property on production of evidence of ownership.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh said cops had organised a camp at Malerkotla during which vehicles, mobiles and other valuables lying at various police stations of the district were handed over to their legitimate owners.

He said, “Having observed problems faced by stakeholders in connection with accident and theft cases in recovering their seized property, we advised our officers to coordinate with the beneficiaries and help them get their properties released.” He added that the release of vehicles lying at various police stations had relieved the police too.

SHOs and beat in-charges said they were also benefitted due to the initiative taken by the senior functionaries, as they would not be required to take care of property worth lakhs that were kept in open spaces at their police stations.
