Muktsar, December 25
A local court in Malout today sent gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to four-day police remand in connection with the murder of history-sheeter Manpreet Singh, alias Manna.
Amid tight security arrangements and bulletproof vehicles, Lawrence was last night brought to Malout on production warrant by the Muktsar district police from Bharatapur Central Jail in Rajasthan.
Today, he was brought to the courts complex in a cavalcade of police vehicles, including two bulletproof vehicles. Nearly 100 security personnel were present there. Notably, a special court was held today on Christmas.
Notably, Lawrence has been kept at Malout (Sadar) police station, which is sealed from all the sides with ‘nakas’.
Meanwhile, Rajbachan Singh Sandhu, SSP, Muktsar, said, “The court has sent Lawrence to four-day police remand. We need to investigate his role in Manna’s murder. If the need arises, we will again seek his remand for more days.”
A team of police officials from Muktsar district earlier visited the Bharatpur Central Jail to question Lawrence in this case.
Notably, just about two hours after Manna’s murder outside a gym in Malout on December 2, a Facebook post on a page in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi claimed that the murder had been committed by gangster Raju Bhisodi, who is part of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, because Manna had become a “police informer for the encounter of gangster Ankit Bhadu”.
As per the FIR lodged by Manpreet Manna’s friend Jacky, who had also sustained a minor leg injury in the attack, the four attackers had come in a Brezza car and indiscriminately fired at them.
