Police seek more time for probe against Amritpal in murder case
The Faridkot police has sought three more months from the trial court to complete investigation against Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha MP Amritpal Singh and four foreign-based accused in the murder case of a villager here.
The Khadoor Sahib MP has been booked along with 16 others under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Charged under the stringent National Security Act, the MP is currently lodged in the Assam’s Dibrugarh jail.
On October 10 last year, three assailants had gunned down a Hari Nau village resident, Gurpreet Singh. Arsh Dalla, a designate terrorist, was also named as an accused in the case.
While seeking more time for investigation, the Faridkot police today approached the court of Additional Session Judge here, saying that four of the 17 nominated accused are currently living in foreign countries.
The police said as the foreign-based accused had sent funds and weapons for use in the murder, the police need more time in getting the transaction records.The police also told the court that they are yet to receive the analysis report of the weapons, ammunitions, blood samples and technical devices relating to the murder case.
The police said while Amritpal Singh is lodged in the Dibrugarh Jail Dalla and Karambir Singh are in Canada, Gurjant Singh in Australia and another accused Jatinder Singh is in England. The police said they have has already procured an open-dated arrest warrants against them.
