Police seize 21 bottles of desi liquor, nab woman in Sangrur

The police here have arrested a woman with 21 bottles of ‘theka sharab desi’ in Dhuri, and they have also seized 20 g of heroin or white powder from a person in Sunam. Police officials have also seized 35 litres of ‘lahan’ along with about eight bottles of illicit liquor from a resident of Jharon village (Cheema).

Police officials said they have also seized a country-made pistol along with a magazine from a person in Sangrur.

The police said they saw a woman, carrying a plastic bag on her head, near a brick kiln, and they stopped her on suspicion to check her bag. They said they seized 21 bottles of ‘theka sharab desi’ and arrested the woman. A case has been registered against her under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act at the Dhuri city police station.

Police officials said a team of the Sangrur CIA has seized a country-made pistol and a magazine from a Sangrur resident. They said the man was arrested, and a case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against him at the Sangrur city police station.

Another police party seized 20 g of heroin or white powder in Sunam. The police said the man was arrested and a case was registered against him under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Sunam city police station.

The Cheema police seized 35 litres of ‘lahan’ and about eight bottles of illicit liquor from the house of a Jharon village resident (Cheema). The police said they have arrested the suspect and a case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act has been registered at the Cheema police station.
