A police sub-inspector was allegedly shot dead at Kot Mehtab village near Goindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran district on Wednesday.
Charanjit Singh had gone to attend an emergency call received at 112 helpline number regarding a violent dispute between two groups in the village.
A cop, on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident.

Police have reached the spot and efforts are on to nab the suspects who fled the scene.
