Though two days have passed since armed men killed five persons, including four of a family, at Kairon village of the district, the police are yet to find any clue.

The deceased have been identified as Brij Lal (65), his two daughters-in-law Jaspreet Kaur (28) and Amandeep Kaur (26), son Daljit Singh (22) and driver Gursahib Singh Saba. According to the police, their throats were slit with sharp-edged weapons. A case under Sections 302, 450, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered. Brij Lal’s son Gurjant Singh is one of the accused named in the FIR.

Kulwinder Singh, DSP, Patti, said six to seven persons had been taken into custody, but nothing concrete had come yet. He said it was already clear that the victim’s family was involved in drug trade and young members of the family were addicts.
