Members of various farmer unions forcibly snapped the power supply to over 20 mobile phone towers of a private company in various villages of the district over the past two days. A mall belonging to a prominent corporate house was also forced shut today.
The power supply was disrupted to mobile phone towers installed at Varapoh, Sukhewala, Saner and Jhattra villages in Zira sub-division, Shehjadi and Thather Khurd villages in Ghallkhurd block, Nurpur Sethan and Sande Hasham villages in Kulgarhi block, Panje ke Uthar, Chakk Kandhe Shah and Gajniwala villages in Guruharsahai sub-division, Karma village in Mamdot block, Basti Dulchi ke and Basti Makhan Singh Wali villages in the Sadar area.
Members of farmer unions said they would not allow these towers to function till the Centre repealed the new agri-laws. In Mansa, farmers under the banner of BKU (Dakonda) snapped power supply of a mobile tower belonging to a renowned corporate house at Bhaini Bagha village.
Boycott Call
Muktsar: Farmers under the banner of BKU (Ugrahan) on Wednesday announced to boycott the shopkeepers selling products of certain business groups from January 1 at Ghumiara village in Lambi. Kulwant Singh, whose wife is the village sarpanch, said, “We will boycott all those found selling the products of certain companies in our village from January 1.”
